About TepStat
We help every Malaysian use Malaysia’s data.
TepStat (from tepat, precise, and stat) is an independent, neutral data research company. We turn official and open data into plain answers in English and Bahasa Melayu, so people can start or improve a business, or contribute to the country.
Who it is for
Everyone. No data skills needed: a teacher opening a food stall, small business owners, students, journalists, council officers.
Free for all
Reading TepStat costs nothing, with no paywall and no ads. We keep costs low by precomputing data and serving it from Cloudflare.
Our independence: three rules

No client, funder, agency or party decides what we find or publish. - 2Sources are always shown.
Every number links back to its publisher, period and licence. - 3Funders are always disclosed.
If anyone ever funds our work, we name them here. Today: no outside funding.
Not a government body
TepStat is not part of, or affiliated with, DOSM (Jabatan Perangkaan Malaysia) or any government agency. We reuse their open data and credit them.
